Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and #GDPR: in Rome on June 15th

Is the new privacy regulation compatible with the principles of blockchain and the technical modalities of cryptocurrencies?

To answer these and other questions about the operation of Regulation 679/2016, which came into force on May 25, 2018, the ASSOPROVIDER Association is organizing an event on June 15 at Piazza di Spagna in Rome.

During the day, the following will be discussed from a technical-legal point of view: Blockchain, Of cryptocurrencies and of the privacy regulation 679/2016 and the AP-Blockchain project to which Italian providers adhere will be presented.

The lawyer Fulvio Sarzana, of the law firm in Romea, Sarzana e Associati, will present a report on the innovations introduced by the Privacy Regulation.

In particular, the day will focus on encryption and/or pseudonymization mechanisms capable of making the #GDPR rules compatible with the “blockchain”.

We will explore issues related to the right to be forgotten and how these principles can be compatible with the immutability of data in the Blockchain system.

Again, the day will deal with the so-called Data retention, or the provisions that oblige communication service providers across Europe to retain their users' telephone and telematic traffic data, and the imminent approval of the e-Privacy Regulation.
