Court of Cassation annuls lawyer

Rome, November 19 (askanews) – The Trento Court of Appeal's ruling has been overturned without remand, as the conditions for extradition are not met. The Supreme Court of Cassation has thus ruled on the position of Oleksii Sigal, a lawyer and president of Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Authority.

The decision of the Supreme Court was announced by the defense attorney, Fulvio Sarzana, who assisted Sigal. .

Sigal had been held in Trento prison since May under a detention order issued by the Slavic country only after his police arrest in a hotel in Trento.

Oleksii Sigal is a lawyer who has also been Chairman of the Central Anti-Corruption Committee of Ukraine  Very active and esteemed in the pre-2014 phase, therefore before the February Revolution, until the dismissal of the President Yanukovych with the change of government and the degeneration of the internal conditions of the country, its position too it becomes unstable.

According to the defense lawyers, in fact, Sigal, while dealing with anti-corruption, had in the past "stepped on many toes" even of prominent personalities. of the military apparatus. Once the government changed, the wind also changed and Sigal was involved in a corruption trial. 

From today, in Italy, that order is no longer valid. He will be able to travel freely throughout our country. And after more than six months in prison, he will only be able to embrace his wife and daughter, born on October 30th.
