“The Law of the Metaverse – NFTs, DeFI, Gamefy, and Privacy” is the title of the book written by Lawyer Fulvio Sarzana di S. Ippolito, professor of Blockchain law and researchers Marco Pierro and Ivan Epicoco which will be presented tomorrow, Friday 16 December at 3 pm in the Aldo Rossi room of the Lum University.
This text is the first Italian publication on the legal and techno-economic aspects of this veritable technological revolution called the Metaverse, which is underpinning a profound rethinking of how we access the internet, spearheaded by Facebook. The book first analyzes the impact of immersive reality on existing legal institutions, starting with the case law and news stories that have emerged in recent months, from the United States to China. It then compares these with the relevant Italian institutions, from intellectual property to criminal law, and finally addresses the specific issue of personal data processing. The text then delves into the technical-economic aspects of the metaverse and the institutions underlying it. It analyzes the ways in which avatars interact in the metaverse, explaining, among other things, in detail how virtual "currencies" work. The authors will be joined by:
