Since this morning, the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) has been executing 108 seizure orders against as many websites, acting on orders from the Rome investigating judge (GIP), as part of an investigation coordinated by Rome's deputy public prosecutor, Cascini.
This is one of the largest seizures ever on the Internet.
The investigations, conducted by the Guardia di Finanza's special unit for radio broadcasting and publishing, revealed violations of online copyright protection regulations over the course of several months.
Among the blocked sites are the major national and international music and film streaming portals.
The Guardia di Finanza's anti-counterfeiting unit is proceeding with the seizure today.
