Also presented was the text "Metaverse Law: NFTs, DeFi, GameFi, and Privacy," the first Italian publication on the legal and techno-economic aspects of this veritable technological revolution known as the Metaverse. The metaverse is at the heart of a profound rethinking of how we access the internet and the "gamble" being made by the largest social network in existence: Meta, formerly known as Facebook. The text first analyzes the impact of immersive reality on existing legal institutions, starting with the case law and news stories that have emerged in recent months abroad, from the United States to China, and then moves on to a comparison with the relevant Italian institutions: from intellectual property to criminal law, and finally, the specific issue of the processing of personal data. The text then focuses on the technical and economic aspects of the metaverse and the institutions underlying this world. The methods of avatar interaction in the metaverse are analyzed, explaining in detail how virtual "currencies" work and the legal and economic value of so-called tokens, whether fungible or non-fungible. The text further explores the aspects of decentralized finance and its interrelationship with existing regulatory frameworks, along with national and EU regulatory developments regarding digital finance.
