The "Pay or Okay" (or "Consent or Pay") model currently represents one of the most debated frontiers in balancing the digital economy and fundamental rights. Faced with the growing prevalence of mechanisms that force users to choose between paying for a service or consenting to profiling, legal and ethical questions are being raised that go far beyond technical compliance, touching on the very nature of consent and the economic sustainability of digital publishing.
