TLC operator WIND: Profits

Italian full-service telco Wind has posted a net profit of EUR147 million (USD213 million) in the six months to the end of June 2008, reversing a net loss of EUR122 million in the same period of 2007. Revenues of EUR2.69 billion in the first half were up by 5.4% year-on-year, including mobile revenues that grew by 3.8% to EUR1.77 billion, and fixed line and internet turnover up 7.6% to EUR807 million. 1H EBITDA climbed 9.7% to EUR974 million. Wind’s mobile subscriber base grew by 5.6% year-on-year to 16.1 million at the end of June, whilst fixed voice telephony users rose by 7.8% to 2.52 million, 63% of which were direct access (ULL) customers; total retail and wholesale fixed broadband customers grew by 33.4% to 1.20 million.
